2.7. Communication with PC
2.7.1. General description
Data exchange between the machine and the computer is carried out via a USB connection and enables two-way transfer of key profiles. This process is supported by the X-KEY Neo software, which is described in detail in the chapter Neo software.
Transmission is passive on both sides—neither the machine nor the computer initiates the connection on its own. This solution eliminates the risk of accidental data overwriting by another device and allows for parallel work—for example, milling a profile on the machine while preparing another profile on the computer.
Correct transmission requires the appropriate operating mode to be selected on both devices.
2.7.2. Receiving data from a PC
To retrieve key profile data from a computer:
- On the machine, in the menu for selecting the key data loading method, select the option
USB[↓], which will put the machine into standby mode to receive data from the PC. - In the X-KEY Neo program on the computer, select the function for sending data to the machine.
The order in which these steps are performed is arbitrary – the transmission will be carried out correctly regardless of which device is prepared first.
2.7.3. Sending data to a PC
To transfer key profile data from a computer:
- On the machine, in the menu offering this option (e.g., after scanning is complete), select the
USB[↑]option, which will put the machine into standby mode, waiting for data to be sent to the PC. - In the X-KEY Neo program on your computer, select the function for receiving data from the machine.
The order in which these steps are performed is arbitrary – the transmission will be carried out correctly regardless of which device is prepared first.
2.7.4. Transmission errors
In the event of a transmission interruption or disruption, an error message is displayed and two options are available:
RETRY- repeat transmission attempt,CANCEL- brakes the transmission and returns to the previous menu.
Tip
The most common cause of transmission errors is incorrect mode setting on one of the devices – e.g. when both the computer and the machine are set to receive data mode, which prevents transmission from starting.
